Nutrition Supplements is Liquid Or Pill Form Better?

There are different ways to take nutrition supplements (dietary supplement) – as a liquid or in a pill, capsule, tablet or liquid form. In recent years, a number of nutritional companies have been making a liquid form of vitamins and minerals.

Personally, I have a “thing” about pills, capsules and tablets, I just do not like them. When I was young I was supposed to take tablets every day, so my mother crushed them and tried to hide them in jam or stew, so I would take them. The taste put me off stew and jam for years.

My dear old grandma took pills every time she had a cuppa tea, which was quite frequent. I could almost hear her rattle when she walked round the house. Watching grandma take them all the time helped put me off also.

My first introduction to vitamin supplements was when I received a postcard in my letterbox, with a picture of a very healthy strong looking 80 year old man, plus pictures of many film stars who took these large vitamin pills to keep them healthy and give them energy. At the time, I was feeling pretty low after a major operation, so I purchased some of those pills and started feeling much better.

Then I found some other vitamins in tablet form which were cheaper and I felt good taking them too.

Only this time, I had to take 30 a day. Now, I was really starting to mimic my grandma. I lined them up on the kitchen counter each morning, then put them in a container for the day – number 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, 6’s, round ones, oval ones, light brown, dark brown, white ones. I threw a number of them down all at once before meals. They tasted awful, I used to gag on them, and started dreading mealtimes because of my entree of pills.

After awhile, I discovered a liquid form of vitamins and minerals, which tasted delicious. Many of the liquid supplements produced today replace all the vitamin and minerals that are contained within pills and tablets.

Apart from the taste and ease and convenience of taking them, there is one other major advantage of liquid nutrition supplements. Taking vitamins and minerals in a liquid form is more bio-available (body-ready) than pills or tablets.

Western society can be accused of many things but laziness, surely not. It seems like something new comes out every week on the diet and weight loss market (especially around summer time) and they all promise to make you lose weight from just taking a pill a few times a day. The problem is, the people going out and buying all these weight loss pills are catching a bad wrap through accusations that they are just too fat and lazy to get off their butts and do some proper exercise.

This statement is a falsity and very generalized. Most people that are going out and buying these weight loss drugs are trying to find the best weight loss dietary supplements on the market just to save time not because they can’t be bothered to go to the gym. It’s because people would rather spend time with their families and friends than be stuck in a gym for hours a day. They are not the stereotypical fat lazy person that the media sometimes portrays them as.

I am plagued with adult acne and I have tried most of the stuff out there with little luck so decided to start from the inside out! I took some info from this book along with a few other sources and have had success. I began ingesting the following(see below) and by week 3 of this new intake my skin looked amazing! really amazing, glowing I would dare say! Acne is a bummer and is emotional and as a woman I know how awful it really can be! I slowly built up my intake of the following and now consume each thing on this list each day and I swear to you my skin is 95% clear!!
1) vitamins: Pantothenic acid, alpha liopic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, acidophilus.
2) I ingest tablespoon of organic fish oil (liquid) and flaxseed oil
3) I ingest 1 tablespoon of pure organic cacao powder(not coco powder w/ sugar..the real deal)
4) 4 cups of organic green tea
5) 1 glass of blueberry juice
6) topically I use BP each night on my skin and use not a moisturizer but a hydration cream and I cleanse with an over the counter sensitive cleansing liquid.
7) for scaring I use topical vitamin c serum each morning

I decided on this mix based on several different resources and this combo works wonders for me. I am not sure if one thing is more powerful than another to be honest but I can say that 3 months into this “test” my skin is still looking amazing. I had to share because I know that so many suffer with this horrible condition.

Melatonin as a Dietary Supplement to Combat Insomnia

Melatonin is probably the most studied and best understood natural sleep remedy for insomnia, and can be particularly helpful if you suffer from initial, or sleep onset, insomnia – difficulty falling asleep.

A hormone that occurs naturally in the body, melatonin is secreted throughout our lives by a tiny pea-sized organ at the center of the brain called the pineal gland. The release of melatonin is controlled by your body’s circadian rhythm – your internal 24 hour time-keeping system, or body clock, which plays an important role in controlling when you fall asleep and when you wake up. Darkness stimulates the release of melatonin and light suppresses its activity.

Although the pineal gland is capable of producing melatonin through life, there is evidence to suggest that its production slows as we get older. This may well be one explanation for the fact that younger people find it easier to fall asleep than older people and reinforces the view that melatonin can be especially useful as a sleeping aid for older people.

As well as occurring naturally in the body, melatonin is also available today in a synthesized form, available through health food and drug stores as a dietary supplement. It can also be purchased as natural melatonin, made from the pineal glands of animals, although its purchase in this form is not recommended because of the small, but nonetheless significant, risk of virus transmission.

If you suffer from initial, or sleep onset, insomnia then you might like to consider taking melatonin about thirty minutes before going to bed. The dosage will vary from person to person but melatonin is typically available in tablet form ranging from 1mg up to 3mg.

It is recommended that you start with a low dose and increase this only if necessary. For many people a dose of 1mg is more than sufficient and you may well find that starting with just half a tablet, or 0.5mg, will do the trick. You should also experiment with the time at which you take melatonin as, although the majority of people find that thirty minutes before bedtime is about right, you may find that taking it slightly earlier, perhaps an hour or even two hours before bedtime, will suit you better.

Melatonin can also prove extremely useful as an aid to countering the effects of jet lag. For many long-haul air travelers taking a very low dose of melatonin at the start of their flight and a slightly higher dose when going to bed at their destination has been shown to reduce the effects of jet lag insomnia.

Melatonin can also be very helpful when it comes to weaning yourself off those long overused sleeping pills. Although the benefits of discontinuing sleeping pills are considerable in the long-term, in the short-term giving up can add to your sleeping problems. One way to help in this process is therefore to replace your sleeping pills with melatonin.

Although melatonin is widely used as a dietary supplement, and has been available over the counter for many years now, its use is not regulated by any statutory authority and so there is little information regarding its interaction with other medications. If you do wish to use melatonin therefore and are currently taking any form of medication you should proceed with care and, if in any doubt, consult your doctor first.

Melatonin is nature’s own sleeping pill and helps many thousands of people to overcome the problems of insomnia every day. Insomnia is a common problem, but it is also a condition that can be addressed with simple natural remedies, that include the use of dietary supplements such as melatonin.
